Our Story

At Akar’s, food is rooted in honesty, warmth & the joy of sharing. Our Executive Chef & Managing Partner - Chef Loi began his journey in various hotel & restaurants mostly on Mediterranean & Italian kitchens before heading to the United States where Southern cooking & live-fire grilling deepened his craft. The name Akar‘s is inspired by roots - a reflection of specialties & flavours that trace back to his gastronomic journey & own heritage.

 

Today he brings those influences home, celebrating the people of Sarawak, Sabah & our neighbours from Brunei with the food that is modern yet rustic - the kind, honest food he cooks daily for his own family. From prime steaks grilled over open flame to sourdough pizzas, contemporary pastas & dishes touched by his own Asian roots, the menu reflects a spirit of versatility & togetherness.

 

Akar’s is more than a modern steakhouse with Ameritalian influences - its a celebration of honest food, shared generously with our community.

In the Kitchen

Our kitchen is where fire never stops. Steaks are seared over open flame, pizzas are stretch and baked from scratch, every sauce is built layer by layer by hand. We work close, side by side - a team that believes in doing things the right way, not the easy way. From prep to pass, its all about honest cooking, respect for ingredients and pride in every plate that leaves the line.
